About the Role:

As a Salesforce developer in the Emerging Technology Services practice area, you will serve as the technical lead during the implementation of Salesforce by an external system integrator for our clients and will transition to owning the platform for maintenance and ongoing enhancements after go-live.

Serving as a Salesforce developer, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will involve overseeing solution design, configuration, integration, and data architecture during implementation and later providing hands-on configuration, development, release management, and support. You will collaborate with internal teams and client stakeholders to guide digital transformation, ensure scalable architecture, and enable effective adoption of Salesforce-based low/no-code solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between client stakeholders and the external Salesforce implementation partner.
  • Review and validate vendor solution designs, data models, and custom code to ensure long-term maintainability and that best practices are followed.
  • Participate in requirements workshops, design sessions, sprint reviews, and user acceptance testing (UAT) activities.
  • Ensure that architectural decisions align with business strategy, security requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Identify risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Provide post-implementation support and enhancements.
  • Assume ownership of the configured Salesforce environment after go-live.
  • Perform ongoing configuration, customization, and development, including Salesforce Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), flows, and integrations.
  • Evaluate change requests, manage enhancements, and oversee release management.
  • Conduct platform health checks, performance optimization, and user access/security management.
  • Train users, support adoption, and serve as the primary Salesforce subject matter expert.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to internal product owners, analysts, and technical team members.


About you:
Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on Salesforce development and configuration experience.
  • Proficiency in:
  • Salesforce Apex (classes, triggers, test classes).
  • LWC and/or Aura.
  • Salesforce flows and process automation.
  • Data modeling, security, and sharing rules.
  • Experience with representational state transfer/Simple Object Access Protocol (REST/SOAP) application programming interface (API) integrations and/or middleware (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi).
  • Proficient understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to engage business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical design.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and influence design and implementation decisions.
  • Self-starter able to work independently and in collaborative team environments.


Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Salesforce Platform Developer 2 certification.
  • Salesforce Administrator or Business Analyst certification.
  • Experience transitioning solutions from vendor implementation to in-house maintenance.
  • Experience in public sector or healthcare environments.


Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, mathematics or a similar discipline and at least three years of related experience.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
