Senior Manager, Product Strategy Overview:

The Senior Manager, Product Strategy is responsible for driving the end-to-end vision for Sun Country's leisure product portfolio - from strategy and innovation to execution and performance optimization. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with a deep understanding of market dynamics, customer behavior, and travel industry trends. They will lead cross-functional teams to deliver differentiated products leading to customer satisfaction, strengthened partner relationships, and sustainable business growth.

The Senior Manager, Product Strategy will foster a high-performance culture, mentor a talented team, and collaborate across departments to align product initiatives with broader organizational goals.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

The Senior Manager, Product Strategy is responsible for these key areas:

Strategic Product Leadership



  • Define and execute product strategy: Develop a comprehensive product strategy that aligns with company objectives and maximizes market opportunities for Sun Country Vacations.
  • Market analysis and positioning: Lead market research initiatives to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to inform product decisions.
  • Product innovation: Identify opportunities for product differentiation and innovation that enhance our value proposition and customer experience.
  • Portfolio management: Optimize the product mix to ensure balanced growth across destinations, accommodation types, and experience categories.


Product Development & Management



  • Partner strategy: Develop and nurture strategic relationships with hotels, DMCs, CVBs, and other key partners to secure competitive advantages.
  • Contract negotiations: Lead efforts to secure favorable rates, terms, and marketing programs that drive business performance.
  • Product-market fit: Ensure product offerings align with customer segments and journeys in collaboration with eCommerce product management.
  • Pricing and yield strategy: Implement sophisticated pricing and inventory management strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.


Product Operations Excellence



  • Operational framework: Establish processes and systems that enable efficient product development and delivery.
  • Technology integration: Drive enhancements to partner connectivity solutions, content management systems and group booking tools.
  • Quality assurance: Maintain high standards for product content accuracy and presentation.
  • Performance optimization: Continually evaluate and refine product operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.


Business Performance & Analytics



  • KPI development: Define clear metrics and KPIs to measure product performance and team effectiveness.
  • Data-driven decisions: Utilize analytics to inform strategic product decisions and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Financial planning: Develop and manage P&L forecasts and budgets for product initiatives.
  • Executive reporting: Deliver compelling reports on product performance, market dynamics, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.


Team Leadership



  • Team development: Build and mentor a high-performing product team through coaching, career development, and performance management.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Foster collaboration across departments to ensure alignment on product strategy and execution.
  • Change management: Lead the team through organizational changes and product transformations effectively.
  • Culture building: Create an environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Supervisory Responsibility:

This position will manage a team overseeing specialty travel, product development, and product operations (two individual contributors and one manager).

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or similar business focus
  • 6+ years experience in cross functional product roles with responsibilities including partnership management, revenue optimization and technology management
  • 3+ years of management/supervisor experience with increasing leadership responsibilities
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with the tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and drive results at all levels within an organization; building partnerships and ensuring shared successes
  • Exceptional communication and listening skills; ability to leverage those communication skills to gain buy-in and drive change
  • Relentless customer focus
  • Sound business judgment and proven ability to influence others
  • Technology savvy - able to work with technology teams to develop innovative customer-centric solutions
  • Ability to think and act fast, deal with ambiguity, and be able to develop ideas into scalable products


Preferred Qualifications:



  • MBA or Master's degree
  • Experience working at a commercial airline
  • 5+ years of experience in the travel industry


Compensation:

Range $95,000 to $120,000

Classification:

Full-Time, Exempt

Work Location:

Hybrid - Minneapolis, MN

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.
