The Systems Administrator is responsible for designing, building, delivering, and maintaining technology solutions that enhance operations supporting research, with a focus on high-performance computing. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Install, configure, administer, support, and maintain servers, operating systems, and related applications.
- Monitor system performance, identify constraints, and implement optimizations to improve performance and access future resource needs.
- Implement and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to protect from security threats and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Automate repetitive tasks and improve system scalability, reliability, and security, leveraging scripting languages and automation tools.
- Manage end-to-end IT projects, overseeing planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful and timely project delivery within budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate with technology vendors and service providers to evaluate products, negotiate contracts, and ensure the successful implementation of solutions that align with organizational goals.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation, capturing insights and contributing to the knowledge base to facilitate knowledge sharing and transfer across the team.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Foundational knowledge of information security best practices.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- 5 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience running Linux at scale in a production environment.
- Experience with server-class hardware in a data center environment.
- Experience with high-speed (10/25/40/100Gb) ethernet networks.
- Experience with enterprise-class storage systems.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
