The Georgia-Pacific Corrugated facility in Albany, GA is looking for a motivated professional to join our team as the Shipping Manager.

The Shipping Manager oversees all shipping activities within the facility on all shifts. This individual leads a team to perform the fast-paced work required in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company procedures and policies. This position would support day shift with flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and off shifts as needed.

Shipping Manager - Key Responsibilities

Safety & Culture

  • Promote a safety-first culture by adhering to plant and corporate policies.
  • Identify hazards, perform trailer inspections, and ensure daily housekeeping.
  • Foster culture grounded in Principled Based Management (PBM).
  • Identify hazards, good housekeeping practices

Customer Service & Communication

  • Strive to deliver an exceptional customer experience through On Time and in full
  • Maintain ongoing communication with sales and customer service teams.
  • Collaborate in daily/weekly planning and strategy meetings.
  • Own P&L responsibilities for freight, warehouse, and supply chain operations
  • Perform cycle counts

Shipping & Logistics Operations

  • Coordinate shipments to support production operations.
  • Develop and execute daily shipping plans based on sales orders and customer demand.
  • Schedule and oversee inbound shipments, including receipt and inspection.
  • Manage outbound shipments (small packages and dedicated loads) with proper documentation.
  • Manage the entire truck fleet and partner with outside vendors.

Inventory & Warehouse Management

  • Use FIFO methodology to manage inventory flow and warehouse organization.
  • Conduct monthly physical inventory counts and oversee raw material ordering.
  • Evaluate deliveries, shipments, and product levels to improve inventory processes.
  • Manage shipping/warehouse functions and coordinate with offsite warehouse inventory.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of inventory control, shipping/receiving records, and order processes.

Leadership & Performance

  • Lead, motivate, and develop shipping leads and hourly employees.
  • Provide daily operational guidance to ensure productivity and quality.
  • Measure and report on warehousing activities and employee performance.
  • Identify and implement improvements to workflows and standard operating procedures.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience supervising in shipping/warehouse management role and/or a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other relevant programs for maintaining records, data, documentation, and reporting
  • Experience managing logistic processes and customer relationships
  • Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, systems engineering, supply chain management or similar
  • Experience working in the corrugated packaging/containerboard industry on a corrugator OR in a converting operation
  • Certified as an OSHA Forklift Instructor
  • Experience with computerized inventory systems
  • Experience with TOPS, PCS, FFF, & KIWI
