Employee Type: Regular Assist in the development, implementation, and operation of mitigation banking projects. Particular focus will be placed on fieldwork, data collection, reporting, and other supporting information for future mitigation projects. Job Description: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Field biologist with a strong understanding of flora and fauna of the Southeastern U.S. Jurisdictional determination of Waters of the U.S. Functional, biological, and conditional assessment of Waters of the U.S., including but not limited to HGM and modified-HGM principles of assessment GIS data management, including collecting and maintaining spatial data necessary for ecological assessment of existing and potential mitigation sites Assist site coordinators and other staff with field work required for annual reporting on existing mitigation banks Assist site coordinators and other staff with field work required for general maintenance Produce maps and technical reports as needed for potential mitigation sites Assist with federal and state agency inspections Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and increase employee safety awareness Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM: Strong working knowledge of flora and fauna of the Southeastern U.S. Ability to independently identify and map Waters of the U.S. Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science or related field and one to 5+ years of relevant work experience. Competency in stream and wetland delineations and associated mapping, along with a strong understanding of wetland and stream assessment methods Good teamwork skills, self-motivation, and excellent communication skills Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail, and analytical skills Positive attitude and team-centered approach to problem-solving Ability to travel to sites as needed Proven track record of meeting deadlines Must be able to work independently DESIRED: Experience permitting wetland and stream mitigation projects in multiple districts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Experience permitting threatened and endangered species mitigation projects in multiple regions of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Proficient in ArcGIS and Google Earth, preferably also including working knowledge of AutoCAD Ability to obtain an Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle license EEO Statement: EEO/M/F/disability/veteran You must meet at least the specific minimum requirements listed above to be considered a qualified applicant.
