Sr. DevOps Engineer

Job Function/Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join the Information Systems team at Knapheide Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our development, staging, and production application and database infrastructure.

Core Skills:



  • Version control platform administration, CI/CD, and deployment automation.
  • Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) best practices and how to implement them.
  • Open-source database platform administration running on a Linux environment, including troubleshooting problems, database design, replication methodologies, and performance tuning.
  • Configuring and managing open-source web server environments, proxies, and load balancers.
  • Linux system administration, including shell scripting, process management, and system monitoring.
  • Open-source application server runtime environment administration.
  • Experience with message queueing systems.
  • Solid understanding of HTTP Request / Response, TLS & certificates, and general web security principles.
  • Using open-source environment management and containerization tools to maintain local development environments.
  • Best practices for server and database backup strategies.


Core Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with the development team to design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure necessary to support our software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Information Systems team for virtual hardware provisioning and site recovery engineering tasks.
  • Manage and maintain on-prem GitLab server and repositories.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain open-source database platforms in production and non-production environments
  • Configure and manage web application runtimes in production and non-production environments.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and tooling to automate deployment and administration tasks.
  • Level 3 on-call escalation for troubleshooting production environmental issues as they occur.
  • Root cause analysis after problems occur in production and non-production environments.
  • Interfacing with 3rd party services such as Cisco DUO, Odoo.
  • Ensure that security best practices are being met within the platform stack.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or a related position.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
