Auria is looking for a Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and sustain secure, cloud-hosted ground systems. This role is central to the development and operation of the Common Ground Element (CGE), ensuring reliable, scalable, and cyber-compliant deployments in a multi-vendor environment. The Cloud Engineer will support containerized services, DevSecOps pipelines, and automated deployments across isolated environments to achieve Authority to Operate (ATO) and enable repeatable delivery processes.
This is a remote position with a preference to be located in Colorado Springs, Co, or Huntsville, AL.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
- Lead the design, integration, and deployment of cloud-native services in containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Manage software release and deployment planning for isolated environments, ensuring high reliability and availability of ground system services
- Implement DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD processes to support rapid, secure, and repeatable delivery of ground software.
- Develop, monitor, and report performance metrics for cloud-hosted ground services.
- Support system demonstration, Gate reviews, and operational rehearsals, providing cloud deployment expertise.
- Collaborate with system engineers, developers, and cybersecurity engineers to integrate cloud capabilities into mission systems in accordance with DoD RMF/ATO requirements
- Develop and execute training plans to mentor developers and DevOps engineers on cloud deployment practices.
- Document cloud architectures, deployment procedures, and sustainment processes in accordance with program standards.
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Preferred 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or DevSecOps for mission-critical systems
- Expertise in cloud-native deployments and scalable software delivery best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize, and other container orchestration tools.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Gov, hybrid cloud) and associated certifications, (e.g., AWS solutions Architect, Azure Administrator), or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Experience in monitoring, deployment, and sustainment of distributed cloud services.
- U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:
- Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines, metrics reporting, and Confluence integration
- Prior experience supporting DoD, NASA, NOAA space, ground, or missile defense programs.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across development, test, and operations teams.
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level. $130,000 - $180,000.
