JOB SUMMARY

** This job is being posted across two skill levels (Senior and Lead). Applicants will be considered for the higher of the two levels in which they qualify. **

Performs professional accounting functions using generally accepted accounting principles in areas including budgets, financial, taxation, property, gas, energy trading, and/or compliance.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY

* Complex responsibilities related to primary focus of job area. Uses best practices and in-depth business knowledge to solve complex problems and improve products or services. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare pro forma adjustments and supporting documentation for regulatory rate case filings.
  • Develop and analyze accounting information for inclusion in rate case filings.
  • Act as a consultant in the documentation of financials within the appropriate area of specialization (budgets, financial, taxation, property, gas, energy trading, and compliance.).
  • Assist in the preparation of state government required minimum filing requirements for rate cases, formula rate filings, and other Regulatory filings.
  • Serve as project or case manager in the coordination, preparation, review, and timely distribution of accounting reports, filings, schedules and/or statements.
  • Determine the stakeholders of a project or initiative.
  • Handle most Regulatory Accounting problems with minimum assistance in the appropriate area of specialization.
  • Assist with rate case work as necessary or provide rate case testimony.
  • May be responsible for such complex projects as studies and filings related to income taxes and property taxes, compliance reporting for various grants or resource taxes, coordination and administration acquisitions, and other senior level accounting related studies and projects.
  • Act as a resource for members with less experience, may direct the technical complexities of work.
  • Use best practices and knowledge of functional accounting principles and business operations to ensure completeness, accuracy, and usefulness of records.
  • Analyze data, prepare journal entries and assist in the preparation of various accounting schedules, reports, filings, returns and/or statements on a timely basis.
  • Interact with auditors on various matters, specifically, preparation of audit schedules and reviews.
  • Reconcile revenues and costs used in regulatory approved tracking mechanisms.
  • Prepare and analyze accounting data for various regulatory filings, such as compliance and ROE results findings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

SENIOR:
* Bachelors Degree in Accounting and 5 years directly related experience; Or


* Bachelors Degree in Finance (or other business-related degree with 12 hours of Accounting), and 5 years directly related experience.



LEAD:


* Bachelors Degree in Accounting and 6 years directly related experience; Or


* Bachelors Degree in Finance or other business-related degree with 12 hours of Accounting, and 6 years directly related experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

* May be required to work non-standard hours.


* Office environment.

SPECIAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

* Excellent project leadership skills.
* Ability to lead and direct the work of others.
* In depth knowledge and experience with the Financial and Controlling modules of SAP.
* Specialized knowledge and expertise in at least one of the following areas (budgets, financial, taxation, property, gas, energy trading, and compliance).
* Ability to work with minimal supervision and make independent decisions.
* Ability to recognize, analyze and solve complex accounting problems.
* In depth knowledge and experience in Accounting and of the supported business.
* CPA or a candidate pursuing a CPA.
* Possesses strong communication skills (oral, written, and presentation) with the ability to communicate with members at all levels of the organization and outside professionals.
* Strong knowledge in Microsoft applications and other related software. (Excel, SAP).
* Possesses strong organizational and time management skills.

SALARY RANGE

Senior: $78,458 - $104,624
Lead: $86,341 - $115,128
