Overview
CAES by Honeywell is seeking an Environmental Screening Manager that will be responsible for leading production operations of the area and also implementing technical improvements needed to meet current customer requirements. Role will include working with the supervisor to oversee current production flow, improving work flow/manpower utilization efficiency, reviewing customer specs/confirming compliance, and identifying obsolete/critical equipment that needs to be replaced. The manager will also need to mentor and guide engineers that support the area. This position is located in San Jose, CA.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all production in the environmental screening area to meet current production output requirements.
- Mentor and grow the technical skills of engineers that report to you who support the environmental screening area.
- Supervise additional roles for the team which could include maintenance techs, machinists, and screening techs based on the group's need.
- Work closely with area supervisor to address technical issues and guide development of screening techs and needed cross-training.
- Complete capacity analysis for both labor and machine capacity. This will include creating an accurate machine capacity model to supplement existing labor model.
- Work to continually improve screening related to meeting customer specs, optimizing work flow/equipment utilization, improving yields/damage that can occur in screening, and then lead the group to make continual improvement in these areas to move in this direction.
- Maintain and improve the overall screening capabilities matrix. When new products are going into production, understand screening requirements and provide feedback to engineering and management on our capability to meet the requirements.
- Identify obsolete/critical equipment that needs backup and work with upper management to plan for these from a budget standpoint. Once in budget, work with engineers to research, set qualification plans, and get new machines qualified in production.
- Understand existing Mil-Stds and review processes for compliance. Resolve issues where needed.
- Set technical vision for the group to improve capabilities or ability to monitor existing processes. This includes applying SPC monitoring where relevant to screening processes.
- Create a culture where personal warranty, 5S, safety (HSE), and high quality processing is part of everyday work.
- Be primary point of contact for screening when supporting customer audits, interfacing with customers on technical issues, and communicating with PMs/customers with status updates.
- Work with the Manufacturing Manager in setting needs for staffing. Lead staff selection, set training plan, and complete performance assessments (including evaluation and discipline).
- Apply RCPS to issues in the screening area and also oversee all failure analysis tests being done related to defects found during the environmental screening process.
- Communicates with others across the organization to gain information and support, escalate issues, receive feedback and suggestions, and provide updates and information.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
- 5 years of manufacturing experience with hands on technical experience.
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
Preferred Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement improvements in a manufacturing area.
- Expert technical knowledge of Mil-Stds and screening equipment functionality.
- Experience with presenting information and responding to questions from group of clients, customers, the general public and management at all levels.
Salary Range: Senior Supervisor Manufacturing $133,000 - $145,000 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
