Summary Assist the Business Unit Leaders to develop, grow and maintain business units, from the project lead stage through preconstruction, construction and closeout. Ensures operational excellence in the execution of all required policies and procedures by the business unit's employees. Maintains a relentless focus on meeting and exceeding customer needs and expectations. Builds business with current customers by delivering on our promises and creates new business with potential customers in a proactive manner, promoting all of our construction services. - Comprehensive understanding of SOPs related to role
- Oversees day-to-day business operations
- Monitors successful fulfillment of individual and field operations accountabilities
- Works with General Superintendents to develop strong, consistent field processes
Business Development
- Participates in project pursuits through early game involvement
- Participates in significant project pursuits
- Reviews project proposals to determine timeframe, proper installation or work procedures, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project
- Works in a leadership capacity in relation to preconstruction efforts and services
- Actively participates in industry, client, and community relations to enhance company image
Project Operations
- Manages operations for all projects from start to finish
- Ensures the safety program is implemented and maintained
- Monitors enforcement of project safety policies, procedures, and actively participate in identifying reinforcing and redirecting safety observations
- Participates in allocation and/or shuffling of resources to accommodate project needs
- Attends / Conducts weekly scheduling meetings and facilitate a six-month-look-ahead schedule for field staff
- Weekly and quarterly monitoring of project progress and financial performance
- Takes a leadership role in anticipating and resolving major issues, such as staff, safety, and quality
Attracts & Develops Top Talent
- Serves as a role model and promotes professional behavior
- Interviews, hires, and oversees field personnel
- Leads and manages operations teams, including coaching and developing teammates to ensure they have the resources, support, and knowledge to achieve success
- Has Regular open communication with teammates to ensure direction is aligned with company and division goals
- Works in a leadership capacity with respect to culture, leadership and employee development with operations employees at all levels
Minimum Requirements
- B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering or related field
- 12+ years of experience
- Demonstrates leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, solve problems, and motivate others, while maintaining effective relationships with customers by meeting or exceeding their requirements and expectations
- Supervises and develops direct reports while prioritizing and delegating significant responsibilities to others
- Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple projects at a time
- Demonstrates solid presentation skills and verbal/written skills
- Proficiency using a personal computer and company communication tools, such as email, internet and Microsoft products (e.g. Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).
Preferred Experience
- Experience in commercial construction as a General Contractor with local DMV building experience including office, hotel, and multifamily.
