DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will perform technical work in the purchasing of goods and services. This also includes invoice reconciliation, examination of financial documents, and other administrative support. You will be expected to independently determine and follow the proper procurement method for processing purchase requests, based on current Commonwealth guidelines, to ensure our department can effectively obtain the services, supplies, office equipment, furniture, and fixtures our teams need to work and thrive.

Your responsibilities will involve utilizing internal resources to obtain accurate and up-to date contracts and price guidelines for purchasing requisitions, as well as working directly with vendors, administrative and information technology staff to verify crucial details, monitor progress, and make or request adjustments to meet deadlines. This includes resolving any discrepancies with blocked invoices. Our team will also rely on you to make recommendations to department staff regarding purchases and exercise appropriate discretion and confidentiality. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Paid parking.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, based on eligibility requirements. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.
