Pile Driver

Primary Purpose

The position is responsible for supporting crane and pile-driving operations in the construction or repair of marine terminals, locks, and dock facilities. Typically, this position works closely with the Project Superintendent, Pile Driver Operator, Welders, Boat Captain, Laborers, and other skilled or semi-skilled crafts persons.

Essential Job Functions

• Understands the basic functions and operations of various types of pile hammers - diesel, air, hydraulic, and drop hammers.
• Able to read and understand blueprints or site plans from which the piledriving work will be done.
• Has general knowledge of construction rigging
• Able to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management
  
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and effective safety precautions of the welding trade.
  

Qualifications

• A minimum of two (2) years of pile driving experience on land and on barges or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary piledriving and crane operation skills, knowledge, and abilities are required.
• Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, plans, and drawings
• Possess visual and auditory capability to perform all work safely
  

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, stoop and/or sit.
• Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders that have capacity limits of 300 lbs.
• Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
