Our Core Beliefs: Be Well, Work Well | Create an Experience | Life-long Learning | Do the Right Thing As the Chief Engineer, you will oversee and manage all aspects of the maintenance department including, but not limited to, maintaining equipment, maintaining building and grounds, parts purchasing and inventory, maintenance budgets, capital project management, mechanic training and development, maintenance hiring, work scheduling and follow up inspections, predictive and preventative maintenance program management, and interdepartmental director of engineering. Chief Engineers report directly to the plant manager and indirectly to the corporate communications. In this role, you will:
- Follow up on preventative maintenance, work orders, and emergency repairs to
- ensure they are being done correctly.
- Work closely with production to make sure their needs are met.
- Work with sanitation to make sure scheduled shutdowns are effective for both departments.
- Schedule and plan for work to be done during normal shutdowns.
- Organize and maintain a proper parts inventory as well as oversee all maintenance purchasing and contractors.
- Be responsible for hiring maintenance mechanics.
- Work with maintenance personnel individually to help them improve and grow in their careers.
- Facilitate training programs for all maintenance employees.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
- Manage food safety requirements as they pertain to maintenance.
- Manage and follow up on all safety programs and related training.
- Work in a fast-paced environment, primarily hands-on position.
- Participate in staff meetings, operations shift meetings, as well as safety and food safety meetings and inspections may be required.
- Available to work on call during off hours for trouble shooting from remote and on-site as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years' experience as a maintenance mechanic.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Experience working in the food industry, preferably in baking.
- Experience with Mixers, Dough Handling Equipment, Ovens, Cooling Systems, Packaging Equipment and Refrigeration Systems. Conveyor Systems. HVAC Systems and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software and Diagnostic Tools
- Possess strong leadership qualities.
- Strong mechanical skills.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Willing and available to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time during a shift, maintaining a normal range of motion in all extremities.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push and pull heavy wheeled equipment or carts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and crouch to access equipment, tools, or materials.
- Ability to use arms, hands and fingers to handle or operate machinery, tools or controls.
- Ability to perceive and respond immediately to visual and audible safety alerts and warnings to ensure the safety of self and others in a fast-paced, hazard-sensitive environment with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and airborne particles, odors and fumes.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work platforms as required by the position.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods using office equipment and computer systems.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and protective clothing for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
