Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for a length of time while performing administrative functions. Must have good eyesight and hearing, and good verbal communication skills as well as the social skills to interact with the public and persons of varying backgrounds and personalities in particular in "remote work" settings.

Work Environment:

Typical activities are conducted from home/remote professional setting where noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Some functions may require work to be completed within a data center environment where noise levels may require hearing protections.

Position Description:

The Cybersecurity Intern will support our team in developing and maintaining our security architecture, enforcing physical security measures, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Responsibilities include analyzing security systems, participating in risk assessments, assisting with physical security audits, and contributing to compliance documentation and processes. This role requires keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to security management. This role will have no authorities.

Duties:

Major duties include but are not limited to the following:

Serves as the Security Solutions team intern with a primary role of learning how a security team operates. The successful candidate may participate in advising stakeholders on methods to integrate compliance, physical and cyber security strategy into every facet of the organization, participating the risk assessment and communication process by consenting to the proper employing of compliance and use of physical and cyber security controls, frameworks, and functions, and empowering the implementations of effective, robust, and consumable security functions.

The primary duties for this role include but are not limited to the following:

Compliance:

  • Learn and understand key regulatory compliance standards relevant to the organization's industry.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Participate in internal audits to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
  • Analyze and report on compliance gaps, recommending improvements to meet regulatory requirements.

Physical Security:

  • Gain knowledge of physical security principles and how they integrate with overall security strategy.
  • Assist in conducting physical security assessments and audits of facilities.
  • Learn about access control systems, surveillance technologies, and emergency response protocols.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of physical security measures and emergency plans.

Cyber Security Strategy:

  • Understand the organization's cyber security architecture and its role in protecting assets.
  • Participate in the development and refinement of the cyber security strategy.
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating potential cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Learn about incident response and recovery processes, participating in simulation exercises.

Required skills / Qualifications:

  • Basic Understanding of Security Principles: Knowledge of fundamental security concepts in compliance, physical security, and cyber security. Preferably a "junior" in college/university level knowledge and skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify risks, and understand security protocols.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with security technologies and tools, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities to effectively convey security concepts and risks to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Capability to troubleshoot issues, think critically, and provide practical solutions to security challenges.
  • Educational Background: Pursuing a degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in monitoring security systems and identifying deviations from the norm.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work cooperatively with various teams to enhance security measures and protocols.
  • Adaptability and Learning Agility: Willingness to rapidly learn and adapt to new security trends, threats, and technologies
  • Ethical Judgment and Integrity: Strong ethical standards and integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
