Job Description

Marketing Automation Technologist

As a member within the marketing Lifecycle Nurturing team, the Marketing Automation Technologist role supports all aspects of marketing automation. This role seeks to supports and optimizes the marketing automation technologies to enable communications with students throughout their lifecycle. The ideal candidate is an innovator, technologist, and a creative problem solver. This position requires a collaborator and team player, with skills to bridge the gap between the creative and the technology to make things happen. The role leads the way in leveraging various technologies and platforms to create communication journeys that excite and engage our students.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day operations of Lifecycle Nurturing Team
  • Assist in the administration of Marketo and related business applications such as Ringlead, Twilio, Conversica
  • Assist in defining, implementing and maintaining marketing automation best practices including data quality and hygiene, list management, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Research new technologies, software, plugins to enhance and further Lifecycle Nurturing capabilities
  • Manage data collection, standardization, normalization
  • Collaborate with teams to collect research and smoothly implement new processes
  • Execute marketing campaigns and best practices for Marketo; lead scoring, profiling and segmentation, system integration, data hygiene, optimization, troubleshooting and reporting Support cross-functional teams providing technical expertise on issues involving sales and marketing tools and databases.
  • Properly escalate key issues when they arise
  • Attend vendor meetings as needed
  • Design and Optimize integrations between marketing technology, CRM, etc. through close work with internal technology teams
  • Build, optimize, and maintain marketing automation operations - including programs, behavior-based campaigns, lead scoring, email templates, forms, customer segmentation- with the goal to increase marketing contributed pipeline and improve customer engagement and experience.
  • Develop and maintain reporting and analytics for team KPI's and campaigns.
  • Work with internal teams to A/B test and optimize customer experience and conversion rates.
  • Design and maintain an actionable prospect database with the accompanying process to ensure long-term data hygiene and list management.
  • Develop and deploy behavior- and event-triggered email communications that utilize dynamic content.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team and internal clients to determine and develop campaign assets that will generate the strongest results.
  • Create and optimize marketing campaigns across multiple channels (email, browser notification, SMS, others).
  • Experiment with new technologies and leverage personalization to create a journey that resonates with each customer.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Operations-minded; systems and process oriented with a focus on efficiency
  • Thorough understanding of customer journeys, funnels, flywheel methodologies, and lead scoring, and how to implement these through automation
  • Ability to identify underlying business needs and deliver lasting, efficient solutions
  • Strong analytical mindset and data-driven problem solving
  • Strong marketing project management and planning skills
  • Solid experience troubleshooting and resolving complex data issues
  • Ability to spot data-driven opportunities and translate insights into action
  • Strong functional and technical documentation abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to research and evaluate operational solutions
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Self-motivated, fast learner, and results-oriented with strong follow-through
  • Incredibly detail-oriented and organized

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Marketing or IT-related field)
  • Minimum of 2 years' demonstrated experience administering Marketo
  • Experience with marketing operations in a B2C, Higher Ed, fintech, or fast-paced tech environment
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workfront, Jira, Wiki, Salesforce, or Tableau
  • Marketo Certified Expert
  • Understanding of HTML and CSS for making simple adjustments to emails, landing pages, and forms
  • Managed large-scale marketing databases, with experience improving database quality, compliance, and governance
  • Knowledge of integrated marketing communications or educational marketing
  • Familiarity with digital marketing platforms and concepts

Position & Application Details
