Position Summary The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking applications for a 12-month, Tenured/Tenure -Track, open rank faculty position. The College of Dentistry is the largest oral health college in the State of Illinois, provides care for 35,000 patients a year, and has over 500 students seeking dental degrees including DMD, PhD and Master's programs. Duties & Responsibilities Minimum Qualifications Minimum qualifications include Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS)/Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD and a MD degree, and fellowship training in head and neck oncology/microvascular reconstruction required. Completion of an American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation (ADA CODA) accredited advanced education program in OMFS. Dental (and medical, if applicable) licensure in the state of Illinois. OMFS Board Certification by the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). Preferred qualifications include experience in evidenced-based dentistry, curriculum development and practice management. Postdoctoral training with an outstanding research and publication record. History of academic accomplishments and the ability to develop an independent research program with evidence of successful procurement of internal and external grant funding on a competitive basis. A demonstrated ability, or high potential, to attract external funding. Strong commitment to interdisciplinary patient care and willingness to engage with other academic departments. History of sustained and ongoing intramural and extramural funded research, with academic/scientific experience in research mentoring ABOMS Diplomate status highly preferred, or educational qualification for such status. Experience such as leadership in teaching, mentoring, research, or service towards building an equitable and diverse academic and scholarly environment. Previous university-level teaching experience both at the pre-doctoral and post graduate levels. Ability to mentor students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows. A strong record of peer-reviewed publications and research funding. Demonstrated experience of mentoring junior faculty, and graduate and/or professional students. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in fostering collaborative research between a dental school and outside entities (eg. medical center) is desired.
