Description Maine Medical CenterNursing This is a bargaining unit position Date posted: 9/11/2025 FT/Days *Please note, this position requires a degree in Nursing Unit Bio: The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) supports the mission and vision of Maine Medical Center through integrating healthcare sciences, computer science and information science as they relate to the efficient and safe delivery of patient and family centered care that is compassionate, evidence-based, and of the highest quality. This role is responsible for the planning, analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation of technology in the acute care clinical setting. The CIS serves as the liaison between clinical staff and IT, providing insight into workflow issues or enhancements. The CIS works in collaboration with multidisciplinary patient care teams in performing workflow analysis and audits to identify and address areas for performance improvement related to efficiency, compliance and quality patient care. This role coordinates classroom or virtual learning opportunitiesfor new and existing employees and students and develops and delivers training curriculums to meet the needs of all learner types. The CIS leads large, diverse projects in different phases of the system development life cycle. Flexibility to work nights, evening and weekend shifts in support of special projects may be required. * Requires the ability to think creatively, work independently, investigate and analyze issues, requests, and projects related to clinical applications. * Requires highly effective verbal and written communication skills. * Requires demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint). Familiarity with MS Visio, SharePoint, and OneNote preferred. * Requires a high level of organization skills, effective time management and delegation strategies that include the ability to rapidly prioritize and adjust work flow according to changing priorities. * Ability to learn, train and support major clinical computer systems. Summary: The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) role is responsible for integrating healthcare science, computer science, and information science to participate in the analysis, planning, development, training, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of Clinical Information Systems across the organization. Also responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and mentoring of clinical informatics training and education programs. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
