Salary: $35.33-39.25 Hourly
Join a leading global apparel brand as a Fabric R&D Specialist and play a critical role in shaping the future of women's wear fabrics. You will be the key connector between design, merchandising, production, and global sourcing partners, driving fabric innovation while balancing aesthetics, cost, and quality. This fast-paced role requires excellent communication, organization, and a deep technical knowledge of textiles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and develop fabrics specifically for women's outerwear, knits, suiting, and pants.
- Partner with design and merchandising teams to align fabric choices with creative direction and business goals.
- Manage international vendor relationships, including mills and sourcing partners, ensuring clear communication and timely delivery.
- Oversee fabric costing and maintain strict adherence to budget and pricing guidelines.
- Conduct fabric testing and quality control, analyzing results and managing risk.
- Maintain detailed fabric data and documentation in the PLM system (Centrix preferred).
- Lead and mentor one Assistant Manager, supporting team collaboration and productivity.
- Deliver trend research presentations to inform design decisions and fabric innovation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in fabric R&D within the apparel industry, with a focus on women's wear (outerwear, knits, suiting, pants).
- Proven track record sourcing fabrics internationally and managing vendor relationships across time zones.
- Strong technical knowledge of fabric constructions, weaves, finishes, and testing procedures.
- Expertise in fabric costing, budgeting, and pricing strategies.
- Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software; experience with Centric is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Science or a related field preferred.
