Summary
The Director of Product Management is responsible for implementing product strategy for their associated product line. This role is accountable for identifying product needs, conducting competitive analysis, developing new products and enhancing the features or positioning of existing products. This person works closely with individuals in operations, IT, business technology, law/compliance, marketing, and sales management to develop new products, which may include acting as Sponsor of new product initiatives. This position leads the work of product analysts/managers and market intelligence staff in support of product maintenance, implementation, and competitive analysis.
What you will do

  • Represent Product department as sponsor on various product development/management projects.
  • Analyze market research and competitive environment to propose product changes and new product development or marketing ideas.
  • Lead product design, and assist in writing product specs and contracts for new products or product changes; Seek agreement on product specs w/ Distribution, Actuarial, IT, Ops, etc.
  • Oversee and develop employees responsible for product analysis, training, and/or market intelligence.
  • Present detailed product information, including product training, to internal and external sales and distribution partners, answering technical questions from wholesalers/agents/distributors.

Compensation

Salary Range: $113,700 - $189,400 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.

Who you are

  • Bachelor degree required. Advanced degree highly desired.
  • 5-10 years prior product management or equivalent experience required.
  • Expert-level knowledge of one or more annuity product lines required.
  • Actuarial or finance experience preferred.
  • FINRA Series 6 and 63 within 6 months of hire
  • Strong understanding of product and insurance company financials.
  • Knowledge of retirement annuity products, regulatory and competitive environments.
  • Ability to use financial analysis to build business cases for new products or changes.
  • Ability to coach and mentor direct reports and others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and sales partners.
