About The Role:

The Geotechnical Operations Manager role is hands-on, impactful, and fast-paced. You will lead S&ME's strong and growing Geotechnical Team in Nashville, supporting some of Middle Tennessee's most exciting and high-profile projects in the Commercial Real Estate, Institutional, and Transportation markets. You will play a critical role in building client relationships, managing projects, mentoring staff, and collaborating across service lines and offices.

What You'll Do:



  • Leadership/Team Management: Manage a multidisciplinary team and lead day-to-day operations (project management, business development, safety, quality, finance, HR, risk management).
  • Business Planning & Strategy: Collaborate with other team leaders to develop and execute an annual business plan and long-term office/market strategy.
  • Project Oversight: Manage geotechnical exploration projects of all sizes, develop proposals and reports, and execute projects consistent with S&ME standards.
  • Business Development: Drive client engagement, cross-sell services, and leverage company tools/resources to win work.
  • Industry Connections: Cultivate relationships through professional organizations to strengthen S&ME's brand awareness and expand networks.

About You:



  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering (or a related construction field; Master's is a plus)
  • You have a PE license in Tennessee or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • You have 6+ years of experience supporting and managing geotechnical engineering projects
  • You have experience building and maintaining client relationships and a proven ability to win work
  • You understand the A/E/C industry and what it takes to provide value to clients while delivering successful technical and financial outcomes
  • You are comfortable dividing time between the office and regular site visits to support and engage field staff

This full-time role offers competitive pay based on experience and includes a generous sign-on bonus.
