Location:St. Louis, MO

Department:Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Schedule: Part-time, weekends

Overview:

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a dedicatedNICU Associateto support our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-equipped environment for newborns and their families, while also performing essential clerical and support duties.

Key Responsibilities:

Instrument & Equipment Support

  • Clean and disinfect reusable instruments and equipment per hospital policy.
  • Assemble and prepare items for sterilization and use.
  • Coordinate distribution and handling of supplies across departments.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment in good repair.

Environmental & Patient Support

  • Maintain cleanliness of NICU and support areas.
  • Restock patient rooms and workstations.
  • Prepare patient care areas for admissions and discharges.
  • Monitor and clean equipment as per unit policies.

Clerical Duties

  • Greet families and visitors courteously.
  • Manage patient records, admissions, and documentation.
  • Assemble educational and admission packets.
  • Answer phones and coordinate communication between departments.
  • Support discharge and transfer processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education:High school diploma required. Basic computer skills.
  • Experience:Previous nurse assistant or patient contact experience preferred. Familiarity with medical documentation and terminology.
  • Certification:Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or completion within probationary period.
  • Skills:
  • Strong multitasking and communication abilities
  • Detail-oriented and dependable
  • Comfortable working with newborns and new parents
  • Team-oriented with a flexible, proactive attitude

Working Conditions:

  • Must meet unit-specific physical demands.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment.
