The College of Health seeks an enthusiastic and innovative individual to serve as the Assistant Director of Post-Secondary Education for the East Central Indiana Area Health Education Center.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to build strong and lasting relationships with stakeholders and will have experience in preparing and presenting information to young, adult learners as well as knowledge of health professions and healthcare systems. What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function: Provide programmatic and administrative management of activities that support ECI-AHEC goals and objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. In consultation with the Director, provide overall management of the East Central Indiana AHEC Scholars Program including the development of this longitudinal program using a

defined set of clinical, didactic, and community-based training activities

2. In consultation with the Director, create, coordinate, and manage hands-on clinical experiences and educational opportunities for health professions students.

3.Coordinate recruitment activities, including outreach and marketing to colleges/universities, rural access hospitals, federally qualified health centers, and other community health clinics.

4. Present AHEC Scholars Program information, and information about other ECI-AHEC programming, to external stakeholders and potential student participants; establish

partnerships with relevant academic programs and university support service offices.

5. In consultation with the Director, develop and organize applicant review and selection processes for East Central Indiana AHEC Scholars Program and other ECI-AHEC

programs as needed.

6. Support the Director and Indiana AHEC Program Office in the development, implementation, and evaluation of AHEC Scholars online didactic curriculum.

7. In consultation with the Director, develop unique community-based experiences to enhance, contextualize and reinforce AHEC Scholars didactic educational components.

8. Participate in monthly online discussions, technical assistance, and problem solving activities to mentor AHEC Scholars and other health professions students.

9. Coordinate the AHEC Scholars' students' development of a capstone community-based quality improvement project.

10. In consultation with the Director, manage the Center's professional development and community outreach trainings, including AHEC Scholars.

11. Complete administrative tasks related to the daily operations of the ECI-AHEC office including, but not limited to: Facilitating staff and participant travel arrangements and reimbursements; managing ECI-AHEC supply orders in the university purchasing system; conducting evaluations of programs using the Indiana AHEC Network evaluation and reporting systems; processing payments and reimbursements to vendors, students, and community partners; etc.

12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a health/medical profession, education, community health, healthcare administration, human services, or a related area.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting information to young, adult learners.
  • Knowledge of health professions, healthcare systems, medical terminology, pedagogy, and the health workforce.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Ability to work independently and establish effective working relationships with a varied constituency.
  • Strong planning, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, professionalism, and courteousness.
  • Proficiency with Zoom, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must possess a valid Indiana Driver's License, be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy, and have reliable transportation.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Willingness and ability to attend instructor training programs, such as American Heart Association CPR/BLS Instructor Certification, Mental Health First Aid Instructor Certification, QPR Gatekeeper Trainer Certification, etc.
  • Physical ability to stand/walk for long periods during programs and facilitate activities, including classroom presentations and campus tours.
  • Capability to set up and facilitate community-based training activities, including lifting and moving training materials in excess of 50 pounds, using a cart as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to supervise/precept health professions students during community-based clinical activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a health/medical profession, education, public or business administration.
  • Experience working in a clinical setting.
  • Two to three years of experience in curriculum development, higher education, workforce training, or provision of technical assistance.
  • Knowledge of active learning and spiral curriculum methodologies.
  • Experience using rapid cycle quality improvement assessment strategies.
  • Experience building academic and community partnerships.
  • Familiarity with the communities of the East Central Indiana AHEC region.
  • Work experience in rural health care systems.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and retention methodologies.
  • Advanced experience in community development, health professions education, or provision of technical assistance to health care systems.

Certifications:

  • American Heart Association CPR/First Aid Instructor certification.
  • Mental Health First Aid Instructor certification.
