ABOUT THE POSITION

The Human Resources team is an integral part of VHB's initiatives aligned with our culture, the employee experience, learning and development, engagement, and talent acquisition. VHB is seeking an HR Generalist to support our New England region. The HR Generalist position may be based out of any of our New England Offices. This is an exciting opportunity to work and grow within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects within our People & Culture team.

Responsibilities

    Works in assigned region to support employees with partnership from HR Leads
  • Advises employees and managers on employee relations and performance matters
  • Advises employees and managers on policy interpretation
  • Conducts exit & retention discussions for regional employees and tracks trends
  • Manages data clean-up efforts in assigned region
  • Provides assistance with the coordination and facilitation of leadership development opportunities and L&D trainings across the region, including maintaining rosters
  • Supports compensation processes by assisting with basic guidance and participating in annual programs, including planning, review and analysis of data
  • Coordinates employee recognition, experience, and engagement efforts
  • Responds to requests for people-related data and metrics as needed
  • Partners with HR Coordinator on all regional employee data changes and updates in HR technology platforms
  • Serves as liaison between Benefits team and employees around leaves (this could include furloughs)
  • Assists with gathering relevant data and obtaining approvals for payroll changes & bonus requests
  • Contributes to regional immigration-related efforts, collaborating with internal teams and external partners as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned (project work, presenting at office staff meetings, termination and/or acquisition support)

  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied HRIS systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Ability to travel +/- 20%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of human resource experience, AEC industry preferred
  • Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness
  • Demonstrates ability to manage multiple priorities in a highly dynamic environment and to work with flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy both individually and as part of a team effort
  • General knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
