Responsibilities

Human Resources Generalist

A desirable opportunity exists for a highly accomplished professional to contribute to efficient daily operations and high employee and resident satisfaction. This selected candidate will be responsible for multiple aspects of the human resources function including but not limited to recruitment, compensation, benefits, HRIS, workers' compensation and employee relations. Implements various programs by partnering with employees at all levels to ensure an educated and effective workforce.

Responsible for multiple aspects of the human resources function including but not limited to recruitment, compensation, benefits, Human Resource Information System (HRIS), workers' compensation and employee relations. Implements various programs by partnering with employees at all levels to ensure an educated and effective workforce. Contributes to efficient daily operations and high employee and resident satisfaction. Performs other duties as assigned.
Principal Accountabilities / Essential Job Functions:
  • Understands and enforces all HR policies and procedures as outlined in applicable manuals and the employee handbook. Applies and communicates policies and procedures proactively and on a continual basis.
  • Facilitates recruitment of employees and completes the hiring process (including reference and background checks) in compliance with required procedures and Company policy. Responsible for initiatives to ensure success of recruitment, i.e., job fairs, college recruitment, etc. Sources applicants through both traditional and creative methods as needed.
  • Creates and maintains all personnel files in compliance with Federal and State regulations. Ensures I-9 compliance and maintains I-9 and other legal/compliance documents.
  • Facilitates new employee orientations consistently to ensure a thorough understanding about the community, our business and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Maintains the HR database and inputs data in a timely manner each pay period. Produces standard reports from the system when requested and audits system data regularly.
  • In conjunction with the HR Director/Manager, serves as the community's Benefits Administrator and maintains up-to-date administrative manuals for all coverage. Conducts employee benefit orientations and enrollments on a timely basis. Coordinates vendor and corporate payments in accordance with monthly report review. Distributes benefit communication materials to participants including open enrollment information, current Summary Plan Description (SPD), Summary Annual Reports (SAR), etc.
  • Helps manage the unemployment compensation process including reporting separations to the carrier, responding to data requests for hearings/appeals and monitoring reports.
  • In conjunction with the HR Director/Manager, serves as the community's Compensation Administrator and administers the program in conjunction with the Base Salary Guidelines. Coordinates the performance appraisal and merit increase programs. Conducts annual wage surveys.
  • Helps manage the workers' compensation function including processing claims, investigating accidents, communicating the program to employees and coordinating the billing. Must also establish a working relationship with the claims adjustor to effectively manage all claims to resolution.
  • Acts as the employee/management liaison to facilitate a rewarding and productive work environment. Implements employee recognition initiatives throughout the community.
  • Understands progressive discipline guidelines and helps to communicate the process to supervisors and managers. Helps to ensures that managers apply guidelines to all employees consistently, fairly and promptly and that documents describing disciplinary decisions are timely, accurate and complete. Creates a harmonious work environment that is free of discrimination and harassment. Actively adheres to and stays current on employment practices. Coordinates employee relations activities and programs as needed. Maintains employee bulletin boards.
  • Completes OSHA log and posts annual summary. Serves as a member of the Safety Committee and assists the maintenance and housekeeping departments with the safety function.
  • Ensures termination checklist and required documents are completed accurately and timely
  • Assists in the budgeting process. Monitors expenses on a monthly basis.

Qualifications

Key Competencies:
  • Leadership skills including the ability to act as a partner.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize effectively to ensure timely completion of all responsibilities (replaced "tasks").
  • Excellent analytical and deductive reasoning skills, good judgment, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication and platform speaking skills.
  • Broad Financial acumen.
  • Ability to analyze and manage HR expenses.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws, compliance requirements. Knowledge of CCRC.
  • Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults and enjoy working with a senior population.
Education and Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree is required; Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in HR is required. Senior living/hospitality industry experience is a plus.

Pay Range

USD $60,456.97 - USD $75,559.69 /Yr.
