Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary
This is semi-skilled work assisting skilled workers in the performance of duties related to electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, heating, and other building trades work.

This position includes managing two pool areas including pool chemicals, trash pick-up across the center, cleaning culverts, pressure washing, window cleaning, waxing and mopping floors, responding to work orders, and assisting other team members across the center.

This position includes obtaining a Certified Pool Operator ( CPO) certification. This includes servicing pumps, maintaining and repairing pool systems, and cleaning pools.

This position will be a member of the maintenance department. All maintenance team members assist with responding to work orders, general maintenance, and assisting with emergency repairs across the 4-H center.

Hours will vary with groups on center. Evening and weekend rotations are required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Some knowledge of the practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of the building trades.
  • Some knowledge of the occupational hazards of building trades and of necessary safety precautions.
  • Ability to develop skill in locating and correcting defects in building installations, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Solid communication skills and willingness to interact in a positive way with guests.
  • Ability to self-initiate and work independently.
  • Service oriented.
  • Ability to obtain Certified Pool Operators certification.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operation.
  • Willingness to acquire other professional certifications (Drinking/ Waste Water, Underground Tanks, Pesticides, CDL-A, Certified Pool Operator, etc.)
