Moog Military Aircraft Group has an immediate opening for a Master Planner. Reporting to the Site Materials Manager. This on-site position is based in Torrance, CA (Los Angeles area) and offers a 9/80 work schedule.

Summary of Qualifications

  • The Master Planner has site accountability for standardization, standard work for governance of the overall Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process and sub processes working closely with the Site Materials Manager to do so. These processes balance demand, operations, supply chain and inventory needs to a consensus of an agreed plan in the operational and IBP time frames.

  • The position is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the site's (OE and Components) Master Production Schedule (MPS) ensuring that it is an achievable plan that would support hours generation, On Time Delivery and safety stock generation which impacts the site's financial state, while meeting customer expectations.

  • This requires working closely with Demand Management, Program Management, Supply Chain, Capacity Planning and Operations Planning in the identification of constraints and how these impact MPS.

  • The Master Planner assists in the completion of the Site Capacity Reviews and ensures regular review and action identification with Team Leaders.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Work alongside Supply Chain and Operations Planning, identify and ensure planning information is accurate in the MRP system (all ERP system instances), MMAS - Materials Management and Accounting Systems, or other systems used to communicate materials management (including transition) requirements.

  • Ensure processes / metrics are in place to alert personnel of potential or actual risks to materials management / capacity plan.

  • Drive behaviors, accountability and cross-functional collaboration with respect to transition timelines and readiness plans.

  • Coordinate with the Site Management, Supply Chain Commodity Managers, Operations Planning, and the Demand Planning team to drive timely, accurate and effective execution of the IBP (SIOP) cycle. Develop, manage and assist in improving communication of Short Lead-time Requests between sites and/or Sectors.

  • Apply effective listening skills when dealing with employees to foster trust, build relationships and encourage dialog leading to employee involvement. Planning and organizing skills are essential.

  • As part of the Integrated Business Planning Team, leads problem solving analyses, providing solution recommendations, and troubleshooting across purchased and manufactured parts.

    • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the Company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System related to piece part planning and end item delivery schedules to successfully coordinate resolution of delivery problems immediately or through collaboration with others.

    • Coordinates information flow and communication within different Moog sites. Recognizes significant problems that cannot be resolved through normal actions and elevates notice within the site to mitigate risk and impact to the end item delivery requirements.

  • Manage complex issues regarding information reports and transaction processing. Excellent problem-solving skills are needed to understand how changes made to the Master Schedule will impact other programs, including development, production, transfer and aftermarket programs. Excellent communication and influencing skills are needed to accomplish problem resolution and inform stake holders.

  • The Master Planner must be comfortable working in an environment with a high degree of ambiguity and fluidity, and with remote internal customers & suppliers based in different time zones. There is a strong need to be proactive and deliberate about communicating with remote customers & suppliers on a regular basis.

  • This position will require significant knowledge of the hydraulic, mechanical and electronic manufacturing plans for all Programs, including Development, Production Aftermarket and Transfer Programs.

  • Able to work in an environment where he/she has significant responsibilities for increased materials management process performance from the teams that they support with no direct authority over those individuals.

To be considered for the Master Planner role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 4+ years' experience in Materials, Quality, Operations, Manufacturing / Product Engineering, Information Technology, or a Supply Chain discipline

  • Proficiency with advanced Excel functions (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP)

  • Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics

Other desirable skills/experience:

  • Industry and Discipline Certifications, (e.g., APICS, CPM, PMP, etc.).

  • Advanced degree

  • Experience in Lean processes

  • Facilitative Leadership, Meeting Facilitation, Relationship and Team Building, Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement, Lean Process, Data Management, etc.

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $110,000.00-$130,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
