Do you have Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience using Cameo and the desire to develop solutions for some of our nation's most pressing challenges?

The Nuclear Command Communications Systems Group (QKR) is seeking an MBSE Modeler to help us become a center of excellence for Digital Engineering and MBSE. You will become a crucial part of our multidisciplinary team where we value technical quality, collaboration, and innovation.

We are looking for an MBSE Modeler who wants to apply their knowledge and skills to exciting tasks as we expand our Digital Engineering portfolio. Our team is striving to become a center of excellence for Digital Engineering and MBSE, and we will be looking to you to help apply modeling methods, processes, and guidelines to MBSE tools and improve interoperability between existing models and analysis tools.

As an MBSE Modeler, your duties will include...

  • Cultivating your systems and digital engineering capabilities through training and collaboration with other MBSE modelers.
  • Identifying and deploying methods, processes, and guidelines to develop models as part of the capability development process.
  • Participating on teams working to advance the capabilities of essential strategic systems; You will analyze and assess existing MBSE capabilities with respect to requirements in order to identify unfulfilled needs.
  • Delivering presentations to sponsors and working groups to effectively communicate proposed concepts, solutions, and analysis findings.
  • Collaborating with engineers and scientists in a multidisciplinary team environment to develop digital engineering products.
  • Applying MBSE to drive requirements development from mission threads (operational capability/need tracings) to describe system performance, resilience, cybersecurity and other characteristics.
  • Helping to define MBSE design review requirements and update our current systems engineering process for applying sophisticated MBSE techniques.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or another related field.
  • Have between seven and ten years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Have a strong understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.
  • Possess a significant knowledge of systems modeling techniques and methodologies.
  • Are familiar with modeling languages SysML and UAFML or other industry-specific languages.
  • Are familiar with systems engineering frameworks such as DODAF and UAF.
  • Can demonstrate proficiency in using modeling tools and software, such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Capella, Visual Paradigm, or IBM Engineering Systems Rational Rhapsody.
  • Have the ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions, especially in system architecture and integration.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, outstanding oral and written communication skills, and good organizational skills.
  • Have the ability to lead, work independently, and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Have a willingness and ability to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in MBSE, tools, and industry standard methodologies.
  • Are willing and able to occasionally travel, including both local and non-local travel.
  • Hold an active Top Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Possess a Master's degree (or higher) in engineering, systems engineering, computer science, mathematics, or another related field.
  • Have between ten and fifteen years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Have certifications in modeling languages or frameworks from recognized professional organizations.
  • Have experience in Air Force and/or Navy platforms and systems in Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3).
  • Have experience with implementation of relevant standards such as DODAF.
  • Possess competence in using software tools for analysis, simulation, and validation, such as MATLAB/Simulink or other domain-specific software.
  • Have strong analytical skills for requirements analysis, risk assessment, and performance analysis of systems.
  • Have an active Top-Secret/SCI clearance.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
