Position in this function is responsible for performing routine patient care duties as directed by and under the supervision of the Physical Therapist. Performs physical therapy modalities and procedures in accordance with the treatment plan as determined by the Physical Therapist, the State of California Physical Therapy Practice Act, the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics, and Optum policies and procedures. Also performs general department duties for the maintenance of physical therapy treatment areas, equipment, and supplies.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum's commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
  • Maintains an on-time patient appointment schedule in accordance with established department standard for productivity. Alters schedule to meet department or patient needs. Maintains productivity outside of patient schedule
  • Assumes responsibility for the care and safety of each patent during treatment
  • Documents patient treatments and responses in the physical therapy patient chart. Completes all documentation in an accurate, legible and timely manner
  • Reports any and all changes in the patient's condition to the Physical Therapist as immediacy dictates
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new staff members as appropriate
  • Performs general department duties for the routine maintenance of clinical and non-clinical areas, equipment and supplies
  • Keeps department area clean and orderly
  • Assists front office
  • Adheres to Universal Precautions at all times
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Uses, protects, and discloses Optum patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:



  • Current CPR certification
  • Customer service experience
  • Patient care experience



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Attendance in post-secondary education with emphasis in the Sciences
  • 1+ years of previous patient care experience
  • Experience in physical therapy
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish



Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $27.69 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
