This role is an exciting opportunity to build a new product from the ground up within Optum Insight's Innovation portfolio. Prior authorization can be the source of healthcare friction and delays, but advances in generative AI present the potential for transformative solutions that dramatically reduce the time and effort involved. The Product Owner, Digital Prior Authorization role will work closely with other product team members to partner with engineering to build, launch, and iterate AI-enabled products to be launched in 2025 that automate prior authorization approvals for payers.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Partner with key stakeholders to align product vision and business objectives
  • Identify and leverage new technologies to enhance prior authorization
  • Document product requirements and user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Secure consensus on strategy, requirements, and roadmap
  • Oversee product development from initiation to execution with engineering teams
  • Identify and mitigate risks, resolve conflicts, and ensure stakeholder alignment
  • Translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and represent challenges and opportunities
  • Utilize data to derive insights and effectively manage timelines and resources
  • Support product lifecycle from ideation to launch and optimize post-launch
  • Ensure high performance standards and measurable results

Required Qualifications:



  • 2+ years of product management experience, including new product development
  • 1+ years of experience in external market product development (vs. internal tools)
  • 1+ years of experience building digital solutions
  • Experience in agile development environments
  • Proven success partnering with engineering and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proven solid technical acumen to translate business goals into technical requirements



Preferred Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of healthcare experience
  • 1+ years integrating AI services and solutions into digital products
  • Understanding of the healthcare ecosystem including payers, providers and regulatory agencies
  • Working knowledge of Optum & UnitedHealth Group
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage ambiguity
  • Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven to be skilled in data-driven decision making

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
