This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our extensive 24-acre facility located in Harrisburg, which proudly hosts the renowned Pennsylvania Farm Show. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be expected to demonstrate a strong capacity for independent thought, effective problem-solving, and the ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations as they arise. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough patrols of designated areas, encompassing the entire facility, parking lots, and surrounding grounds, to ensure safety and security. You will also be tasked with managing traffic flow and maintaining parking perimeters in all areas overseen by the Farm Show, while fulfilling duties related to the paid parking operations. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be providing outstanding customer service to visitors, clients, and event participants. Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal, will be necessary for interactions with Lieutenants, the Chief of Security, management, and other departments regarding any concerns or incidents that require attention.
Additionally, you will need to effectively use a two-way radio to relay accurate information and maintain detailed entries in daily activity logs, highlighting incidents or issues that may require further scrutiny. Timely communication with local law enforcement will be crucial when directed by a Lieutenant or Chief of Security in response to unlawful activities. You will also be responsible for utilizing and distributing necessary security equipment for various shifts as required, completing daily assignments related to your patrol or post, and managing lost and found items by reporting, logging, and tagging them appropriately.
Furthermore, you will accommodate requests for the timely opening and securing of entrances, respond to fire control system alarms with the appropriate actions, and provide clear communication to emergency response teams during critical situations, including details about the location of emergencies and optimal access routes. Daily protocols will also include the raising and lowering of the American and state flags, reviewing daily activity logs and shift reports, and preparing Farm Show-managed parking lots for events by establishing signage, barriers, cones, and traffic patterns prior to the opening of the show, all while adhering to state regulations and bureau guidelines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Temporary, Part-time employment
- All guards operate on an on-call basis, with no specific shifts assigned. This arrangement allows for flexibility in staffing to accommodate the needs of events held at the facility.
- Work schedules will include weekends, holidays, and various shifts as required. The specific hours and days may change based on operational needs.
- 1st shift: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- 2nd shift: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
- 3rd shift: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position
