Summary:

Under direction of a licensed Clinician, assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor and evaluate patient care activities. Collaborate with clinical team to meet individual needs using communication and available resources to promote quality, cost effective care.

Responsibilities:



  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

  • Clinic Responsibilities

  • Performs clinical skills accurately and professionally in clinic
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare providers as needed
  • Completes school and insurance paperwork within designated amount of time
  • Identifies barriers to effective communication and implements changes in processes to include meetings, documentation, etc.
  • Conducts a thorough initial clinical evaluation of injuries and illnesses commonly sustained by the competitive athlete
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of functional anatomy and characteristic pathology of all common closed soft tissue injuries, open wounds, and fractures.
  • Performs needs' assessment of clients and recommends and develops clinics and educational programs
  • Has knowledge of and demonstrate compliance with infection control policies
  • Appropriately handles and dispose of sharps and appropriately dispose of bio-hazardous materials
  • Identifies barriers to patient and physician satisfaction and assists with improving entire process
  • Anticipates patient and physician needs to decrease complaints/concerns and acts to resolve the situation
  • Design and educate patient on home exercise protocols per the physician's request.
  • Responsible for brace and crutch fitting and product education.

  • Surgical Responsibilities

  • Responsible for patient set up for OR procedure.
  • Knowledge and skill of sterile prep and draping in OR.
  • Ability to communicate with scrub tech, OR Nurse, Anesthesia regarding procedure expectations.
  • May be needed for patient positioning, retraction, suction, and wound closure as discretion of physician.

  • Community Outreach Responsibilities

  • Minimum of 20% of time will be performing Athletic Trainer Outreach at schools sporting events or other events. Schedules and events will be selected by leadership as needed and to be determined.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills



  • Bachelor's of Science in related field is required.


Experience



  • Three years as an athletic trainer (including student internship)
  • Completion of Accredited First Assist Program required


Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications



  • State License (LAT) required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Athletic Trainer Certification preferred
  • Basic Life Support required

Work Schedule:

8AM - 5PM Monday-Friday
