GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Laboratory Quality Manager oversees the Lab Specialists in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology (including Coagulation and Urinalysis), Microbiology, Transfusion Medicine and Point of Care Testing; ensures compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements to insure the highest quality of service to patients and physicians at all times. Researches, evaluates, recommends and implements technical supplies, instrumentation, equipment, methodologies, and procedures for the Clinical Laboratory.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:




  1. Commits to Bryan's mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  2. Supervises, trains and evaluates the performance of all Lab Specialists.
  3. Assesses, comprehends and manages the development, implementation and management of the quality monitors for the Clinical Laboratory's Quality Assessment Plan and Quality System.
  4. Establishes and maintains data collection, monitoring and analysis of technical laboratory processes and incorporates the results of Quality Assessments to improve patient care and services.
  5. Facilitates compliance with all CAP, AABB, Joint Commission, safety and other regulatory agency requirements; maintains knowledge of regulations and acts as a resource for technical staff, administrative staff, and physicians.
  6. Collaborates with the Medical Director, Clinical Laboratory Director, and other clinical laboratory personnel to resolve technical issues.
  7. Develops operating and capital needs for budgetary process; establishes means to monitor and control costs in relationship to volumes and requirements.
  8. Collaborates with laboratory management and Medical Center staff by utilizing effective communication skills and problem solving techniques; applies continuous quality improvement concepts and methods to effect appropriate change to meet quality improvement and productivity benchmarks.
  9. Researches, evaluates, recommends and implements the inventory of laboratory equipment, instruments and supplies including the management of preventative maintenance and repairs.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors of Science degree in Medical Technology or equivalent field of study required. American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification required. Minimum three (3) years of clinical laboratory experience required. Minimum of one (1) year supervisory or managerial experience in a clinical setting required.
