The Procurement Analyst - Transportation plays a critical role in driving strategic sourcing initiatives and optimizing logistics spend across all modes of transportation, including truckload, LTL, intermodal, ocean, and air. This position is responsible for deep-dive analytics on freight expenditures, assessing carrier performance metrics, and contributing to contract negotiation strategies to ensure timely, cost-effective, and reliable movement of goods throughout the supply chain.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Strategic Transportation Analysis: Analyze freight spend data to uncover trends, identify cost drivers, and generate actionable savings insights. Research market trends, fuel pricing, and regulations to inform cost-optimized sourcing strategies.

  • Sourcing & Contract Management: Support transportation RFPs and bid events through data prep, evaluation, and award modeling. Assist in drafting contracts and tracking compliance to mitigate risk and ensure alignment with terms.

  • Carrier & Rate Oversight: Monitor performance metrics like on-time delivery and claims, recommending corrective actions. Maintain rate databases and ensure accurate application of tariffs and accessorial charges.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with logistics, operations, and finance teams to ensure procurement strategies align with broader business objectives and operational requirements.

  • Reporting & Decision Support: Develop dashboards and analytical reports to support data-driven decision-making and communicate insights to leadership.

WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • Industry Knowledge: Background in procurement, transportation, or supply chain analytics

  • Technical Proficiency: Experienced in Excel and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)

  • Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong ability to interpret data, solve problems, and communicate effectively.

  • Collaboration & Independence: Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel up to 5%

  • Team-Oriented Attitude: Demonstrates approachability, respect, and the ability to foster strong team relationships.

OTHER SKILLS THAT MAKE YOU STAND OUT:

  • Transportation Expertise: Knowledge of freight modes, Incoterms, and transportation regulations a plus

  • TMS Platforms: Familiarity with TMS platforms (e.g., Oracle, SAP TM, MercuryGate) and sourcing tools like Jaggaer
