This position is funded for 12 months; continuation past 12 months will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.POSITION SPECIFICS The Ang/ Cheng laboratory in the Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pathology, is hiring a zebrafish facility manager to oversee the operation and maintenance of the laboratory zebrafish facility (https://research.med.psu.edu/core-facilities/zebrafish/) and assist in cutting-edge research at Penn State University. The Zebrafish Functional Genomics Core at the Penn State College of Medicine was established to provide the Penn State research community with a modern, centralized facility for housing, breeding, and performing experiments with zebrafish, one of the fastest-growing model systems in biomedical research. The central housing facility has 32 racks, divided into two independent recirculating aquaria, and an isolated quarantine room contains two stand-alone racks. The system is digitally monitored, allowing for optimum housing conditions for zebrafish. The individual will also participate in various zebrafish research projects currently underway in the lab. One such project is the creation of the first integrated 2D, 3D, and omics microanatomical zebrafish atlas to enable disease modeling, which will be utilized by the worldwide zebrafish community. The individual will also help train new zebrafish researchers to use the model for their research. Individuals who are self-driven, highly motivated, and have excellent time management skills are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and as members of a highly diverse team. The ideal applicant will have excellent communication skills and experience working with animal models, especially zebrafish. The facility manager will work under the supervision of Dr. Ang, facility director, to ensure the smooth operation of the facility. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NoneBACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
