Job Summary This position is responsible for overseeing a $275M portfolio of vital chemicals like caustic soda, chlorine, and sulfuric acid-core ingredients for industries from water treatment to EV batteries. The role requires a strategic approach to pricing, performance monitoring, and close collaboration with both internal teams and a varied customer base ranging from multinational corporations to regional manufacturers. By interpreting complex market data and identifying growth opportunities, the market manager ensures these essential materials reach their destinations efficiently and profitably. The position presents daily intellectual challenges, whether it is untangling a sophisticated supply chain, optimizing logistics for hazardous materials, or responding to the ever-changing dynamics of the global market. The market manager plays a central role in strategic decision-making by developing adaptive responses to market volatility and capitalizing on emerging industry trends. This role is well-suited for those seeking a career that blends strategic analysis with real-world impact. Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Design, market, and support sales of CSX Transportation services for assigned products
- Develop yield management and strategic marketing plans based on market research and competitor analysis
- Collaborate with Sales to create product value propositions
- Evaluate market trends and monitor key customer or competitor actions
- Assist with pricing, contracts, and communication materials
- Lead projects and process improvements for key products
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
- 2 or more years of experience in or business-to-business (B2B) sales/marketing, finance, procurement, pricing or data analytics
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate Degree
- 5 or more years of experience in or business-to-business (B2B) sales/marketing, finance, procurement, pricing or data analytics
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including data analysis, dynamic reporting, automation, and management of large datasets
- Preferred proficiency in utilizing Power BI for data analysis, visualization, and dissemination of data-driven insights
- Strong project management abilities, business acumen, leadership qualities, effective time management, meticulous attention to detail, and capability to work independently as a self-starter
- Proven skills in process improvement and cross-functional project management
- Excellent analytical thinking abilities
- Skilled in developing written documents and presentation materials for diverse audiences; ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority (a writing sample will be required during the interview process)
- Competence in compiling and presenting comprehensive market and financial data
- Ability to build rapport and foster relationships with stakeholders at various organizational levels, both internally and externally
