UCF HR Benefits:

The UCF HR Benefits section is responsible for the oversight and management of the wide range of competitive benefits that are a vital part of your total compensation, including State of Florida and UCF-specific insurance and retirement plans.

The Opportunity:

The Benefits Data Analyst II position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of benefit-related data transfers, including analyzing and collecting data to take corrective actions as necessary. This position also serves as the technical point of contact for benefit-related file testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the integrity and reliability of the human resource system.

Responsibilities:

Specific duties include, but not limited to:


  • Analyze, audit, and research inbound and outbound benefit files (daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and annually) for various state and University vendors. Identify errors and discrepancies regarding enrollments, premium changes, and job changes. Consistently review files to ensure data integrity and accuracy between the HCM system and vendor databases.

  • Review and process benefit premium reports and adjustments by reviewing employee/employer over- and underpayment reports, paycheck calculations, and vendor requests. Submit premium adjustments, including paycheck adjustments, refund requests, premium recalculations, and move money adjustments.

  • Update, maintain, audit, and verify benefits data in HCM system and third-party database systems, including processing reports and using cognitive reasoning to research, analyze, document, and resolve issues. Respond to ongoing and ad hoc reporting needs as needed. Verify, compile, and record statistical and narrative information for the preparation of reports and records utilizing word processing and spreadsheet software.

  • Act as a technical subject matter expert on all matters relating to benefits interface files. Consistently analyze opportunities for process improvements and recommend appropriate solutions. Work in collaboration with HR Management, Vendors, and Workday Enterprise Support Team to complete and/or audit system changes, testing, and other technical projects as assigned by management.

  • Review retirement contribution eligibility for special and overtime compensation payment requests. Review retirement contributions for employees entering DROP. Complete necessary calculations and submit or process adjustments to ensure correct retirement contributions are deducted. Review voluntary retirement bi-weekly inbound files and contributions, correct loading and/or deduction errors.

  • Extensive communication and interaction with other functional human resource units for day-to-day standard operations as well as strategic initiatives as directed by management. Work in a collaborative setting with all functional sections to build ongoing professional relationships, expand knowledge, and improve customer satisfaction to align with the Human Resources mission and vision.

  • Maintain knowledge and assist in coordinating university compliance with federal, state, and local health care laws, including Florida State statutes, Florida Administrative Code, Affordable Care Act, COBRA, and HIPAA. Maintain a broad knowledge of university regulations, policies, procedures, and legal and regulatory updates as they relate to all aspects of employee benefits. Ensure that benefit programs are being administered according to plan documents.

  • Serve as a backup for the Benefits Coordinators when needed to provide coverage for employee inquiries regarding insurance and retirement. Assist management with ongoing projects and initiatives, including serving on committees and/or work groups as requested.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experienceor an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with a variety of employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans, with a solid understanding of applicable regulations.

  • Direct experience performing benefits premium calculations, including retroactive adjustments, refunds, recoveries, and coordinating with payroll teams on deduction schedules.

  • Proficiency in using data analysis tools and HRIS systems, with a strong understanding of employee benefits data structures and processes.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including advanced skills in Excel with expertise in pivot tables, lookup functions, complex formulas, macros, and data import/export techniques.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and present complex data accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Experience with Workday or similar ERP systems, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new employee management technologies.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $48,722 to $60,000. The final rate will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
