Overall Purpose:

Systems & Software Specialist I, serves as a strategic technical leader and subject matter expert, driving the design, integration, and optimization of complex systems and software solutions. This role provides advanced guidance across product and project teams, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical execution through expert-level analysis, configuration, and support.



Location:Hybrid, downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania



Job Responsibilities:



  • Strategic Technical Leadership:
    Shape and influence enterprise-level product strategies by applying deep technical and business acumen to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Cultivate strong partnerships with senior business leaders, technical teams, and external vendors to align system capabilities with organizational goals.
  • Lifecycle Ownership:
    Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of critical systems and applications, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and sustainability across platforms and processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Drive cross-team initiatives by defining technical direction, setting priorities, and ensuring timely delivery of complex projects.
  • Project & Product Accountability:
    Own the successful delivery of high-visibility projects, providing technical oversight, risk management, and progress reporting to stakeholders. This includes multi-year project(s) to transform financial and procurement processing across Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Procurement & Supply Chain. Work with several software vendors, solution implementors, and managed services to aid completing the project on time and with maximum efficiency.
  • Operational Excellence:
    Ensure system reliability and performance through proactive monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement practices, including staying current with vendor roadmaps and features released. Seek to leverage AI to streamline processes and gain efficiencies.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing:
    Serve as a mentor and technical resource to peers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the team.



Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data networking, or related fields (equivalent experience/certifications/degrees will be taken into consideration) is required.
  • 7+ years' related experience required.


    • Experience with designing, implementing, deploying and supporting Oracle ERP technology solutions across multiple business disciplines including Accounting (Including Project Accounting), Tax, Treasury, Procurement and Supply Chain. Experience with Oracle's Planning and Budgeting Solution.
    • Experience leading a managed service team to obtain optimal results and efficiency.
    • Related experience includes but isn't limited to working in traditional (waterfall) and agile software delivery environments, integration and implementation of vendor applications, etc.


  • Certifications in applicable technical disciplines preferred.

  • Skilled in balancing innovation with pragmatism-bringing forward new ideas while staying aligned to business priorities and budget.
  • Effective at translating abstract business needs into actionable technical road maps.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.
  • Proactive in identifying technology gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Effective at seeking ways to continuously improve processes including leveraging AI tools.
  • Capable of mentoring other team members, promoting best practices in solution design and implementation.



Scope:

Primary Focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Accountable for managing one's own time and work flow and leads projects and/or large project steps. Work is complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Acts independently the majority of the time, requiring guidance in only complex situations. Has well established capabilities, acts as a resource to less experienced staff on moderately complex issues.



Decision Impact:

Problems and issues faced are vague and require analysis of multiple sources of information for solutions. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.



Hybrid Work:

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.



Storm Roles:

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company.Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc.



Data Governance:

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
