Applications are now being accepted for the position of: Director of Technology Supports the work of the Executive Director of Operations (EDO) to ensure operational excellence, information security, sustainability and the continued evolution of GEUS by overseeing the effectiveness of existing technology resources, performing research on new technologies that could enhance efficiency of operations and implementing new and existing technologies across the organization. Directs, coaches and manages the IT, Fusion, and Network/Data teams.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1 Performs executive level work under the guidance and general direction of the Executive Director of Operations, including research, analysis and special projects and studies. 2 Provides leadership in deploying, operating, and maintaining technology solutions to enable GEUS to achieve its strategic technology and business objectives. 3 Directs and manages Technology Personnel, including recruitment, assignments, reviews, dismissals, and workforce planning. 4 Establishes external relationships with industry peers to exchange information and strategies and maintains up to date knowledge of state-of-the-art technology concepts and solutions with an emphasis within the utility industry, but also including non-utility concepts as they map to utility issues. 5 Research technologies and keeps EDO apprised of technology issues, risks and opportunities. 6 Evaluates the effectiveness of existing technology and provides recommendations, plans and impact assessments for technology changes. 7 Optimizes existing technology resources and implements new technology for improving operational efficiency. 8 Supports and helps ensure security, availability and reliability of infrastructure and applications while responding to a rapidly changing technology environment. 9 Oversees planning and execution of major enterprise technology implementations. 10 Develops training and provides guidance to adapt staff to new technology systems. 11 Develops and monitors progress on projects and budgets and reports same to EDO. 12 Reports to EDO on key performance indicators related to strategic technology objectives/initiatives. 13 Provides strategic technology input to business and technical teams to ensure project objectives and appropriate resources are anticipated, allocated and optimized to meet scheduled requirements. 14 Oversees data security and management. 15 Balances long-term and short-term technology needs within available resources. 16 Coaches and develops IT Manager, Fusion Manager, Network Engineer, and Data Engineer to ensure a high-performance team. 17 Ensures the companys technological processes and service comply with all applicable requirements, laws, and regulations. 18 Participates in professional development activities to remain current with industry trends and best practices. 19 Collaborates, coordinates, and communicates technology strategy and supporting information with GEUS management, internal GEUS departments, City departments and management. 20 Maintains strong relationships with customer service focus.The primary responsibilities only include essential functions of the job and does not imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position. Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instruction and to perform any other job-related duties requested by supervisor or management.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 1 Bachelors degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, engineering or a related field 2 Minimum 7 years of experience in Technology, industrial technology experience preferred. 3 Established technical competency in technology innovation, design, development, and implementation, including security. 4 Excellent analytical, computational, and problem-solving skills 5 Ability to apply fundamental concepts of theories, work with advanced mathematical operations methods, and functions of complex variables. 6 Experience with complex project management 7 Proactive problem solving and decision-making ability 8 Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management as well as customers, city and state personnel, and personnel from other utilities 9 Ability to exercise diplomacy and participative management skills that support team efforts and quality processes 10 Strategic thinker and effective communicator offering expertise in technological development and the demonstrated ability to implement and execute organizationally 11 Ability to monitor progress toward fiscal objectives and adjust plans as necessary to reach them PHYSICAL EFFORT: 1 Ability to lift and/or move up to 25-lbs Pay Rate: DOQ plus benefitsTo apply, you must submit a City of Greenville/GEUS application form.
