The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Neurosurgery is seeking an hourly, Temporary Professional Employee to perform daily administrative and clinical operational support duties under the supervision and guidance of the Clinic Services Coordinator for one week starting August 18, 2025. This includes acting as an access navigator, providing check-in duties, and assisting with check out and scheduling follow up appointments.

Responsibilities include:



  • Check-in & Check-out Ambulatory Clinic Patients
  • Call patients to discuss neurosurgery scheduled referrals.
  • Upload documents to patients' electronic medical records
  • Create patient referral shells via Epic (electronic health record)
  • Fax charge sheets to billing
  • Assist with work compensation records and faxes.
  • Assist in incoming and outgoing calls.
  • Producing pre-op surgical folders
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Schedule: Monday-Friday, work to be completed between the hours of 7:30am-Clinic Close (typically 5:30pm). Number of hours and schedule to be set upon successful hire.Please note: This position is expected to last for a duration of no longer than one week (08/18/2025 - 08/24/2025).

Pay:$12/hour

Supervision Received: Supervision received by theClinic Services Coordinator.

Required Qualifications



  • General computer skills, including standard office equipment (e.g., computer, printer, scanner, fax machine, multi-line telephone).
  • Knowledge of office software programs, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Skype, Zoom, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Desired Qualifications



  • Interest in health care careers
  • Health care experience involving direct patient care
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
  • Ability to multitask


Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any conviction history and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential/education verification.
