What you'll be doing...

The Verizon CyberSecurity (VCS) team is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Associate Director to join the Cyber Risk Management organization. This role will lead one of our technology risk pillars and will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for building procedural and technical solutions to support risk assessment activities for the enterprise. This role will report directly to the Sr. Director of Cyber Risk Management and will partner with leaders and teams throughout Verizon. The leader will gain exposure to the diverse aspects of our business through collaborating with different business leaders related to maintaining our cybersecurity posture and compliance. The work they will perform is critical to reducing risk and providing solutions that protect our company, our employees and our shareholders. In order to achieve this, the role requires strategic and thoughtful decision-making, an inquisitive and risk-based mindset, strong interpersonal competencies with peers and stakeholders, and a solution-oriented approach to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:

Risk Management

  • Implementing and applying our risk framework, ensuring consistent risk processes across all technology projects, products, systems, and services.

  • Maintaining current knowledge of procedures and methods to enhance team knowledge and industry expertise.

  • Using metrics to evaluate and track the effectiveness of risk management measures.

Partnership

  • Acting as a technical expert for the broader GRC organization in your risk domain, serving as the SME and consultant for complex topics.

  • Designing and deploying new security capabilities in partnership with key peer teams including but not limited to: Enterprise Cyber Services, 3rd Party Risk Management, Cloud Security and BISO teams.

People Management:

  • Leading, developing, and managing employees to achieve the organization's roles, including recruiting, training, developing and performance management.

  • Ensuring personnel are appropriately aligned to assigned projects and responsibilities based on skills and performance.

What we're looking for...You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Eight or more years of experience in a risk management role, preferably in a leadership capacity.

  • Direct experience in risk management activities at a large enterprise with an emphasis on technology.

  • Demonstrated experience leveraging data analytics tooling to create quantitative insights into the risk management process.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience managing large scale projects, audits and/or compliance efforts.

  • Proven ability to track observations/gaps/vulnerabilities in support of compliance/audit efforts.

  • A solid understanding of the NIST RMF and its accompanying processes.

  • Strong grasp of technical topics as they relate to cybersecurity.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Experience with ServiceNow functionality.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours. The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $138,500.00 - $242,000.00.
