Position SummaryThe Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a Postdoctoral fellow position. We are seeking a research-focused and experienced individual with strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will conduct research in Dr. Islam's lab in the department. Dr. Islam's research is focus on cornea regeneration including cell therapy. The successful candidate will conduct research involving animal models, specifically using the rabbit cornea. Responsibilities also include publishing findings in leading journals and conferences, leading group projects, and collaborating with both graduate and undergraduate students on research initiatives. The candidate should be available to start immediately. The ideal candidate should have: A record of peer-reviewed publications and prior research experience in ophthalmology, including experience in handling rabbits for ocular research (preferably, but not limited to, studies involving the rabbit cornea) and conducting laboratory experiments.
