Scope of Work:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic leadership and oversight of all financial operations to ensure the organization's fiscal integrity and compliance with applicable regulations. This role is responsible for developing financial strategies, managing accounting and reporting functions, overseeing budgets, and ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements. The CFO partners with executive leadership to drive business growth and operational efficiency within a government contracting environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide executive leadership in financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to support corporate goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and other regulatory requirements related to government contracts.
  • Oversee accounting, payroll, audit, tax, and treasury functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial activities.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, internal controls, and risk management practices to safeguard company assets.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and capital structure to support business operations and growth initiatives.
  • Prepare and present accurate financial statements, reports, and performance metrics to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Lead pricing strategy and cost proposal development for new government contracts, ensuring compliance with cost principles and competitive positioning.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with auditors, banks, insurance providers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Direct and mentor finance and accounting staff, fostering professional growth and maintaining high performance standards.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and business development initiatives with financial analysis and due diligence.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA/CFA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive financial management experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within government contracting.
  • Extensive knowledge of FAR, CAS, DCAA audit requirements, and government cost accounting principles.
  • Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and complex cost structures.
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP systems required.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel.
  • May occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Clear vision to read documents on computer screens.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone/video meeting, and email.
