Description

BlueHalo, an AV company, is looking for a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Kinetic Effector team. The Senior Principal Mechanical Engineering role will work across a broad range of disciplines with an emphasis on product development, analysis and testing, and system integration. Responsibilities include mechanical design, technology research, interface definition, trade studies including component selection, CAD modeling and documentation, planning required tasks, leading and mentoring a diverse team, and leading integration efforts to support milestone reviews.

You'd Like to Do This

* Represent BlueHalo (now an AV Company) and program interests with senior customer counterparts, internal senior program management and engineering leadership
* Direct and lead a diverse team of multi-disciplined engineers in support of missile development
* Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
* Provide mentoring, guidance and direction to junior engineers from conceptual design through release of technical data package
* Design, test, and/or integration of mechanical components, mechanical ground support equipment (EGSE), subsystems, or system-of-systems
* Perform, oversee and coordinate all aspects of kinetic system mechanical design
* Ensure quality of mechanical designs and implementation.
* Support trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues
* Ensure mechanical design quality and integrity as designs evolve by reviewing changes, synchronizing changes with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline.
* Identify risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design requirements and mitigate to reduce risk or realize opportunities.
* Develop and mature mechanical system designs that meet weapon system requirements, standards and regulations.
* Technically engage with major subcontractors and partners to ensure product deliverables
* Lead internal design reviews, and support major customer reviews
* Assist with program schedule creation and hardware development planning
* Develop engineering labor and material estimates
* Support manufacturing engineers in the development of factory layouts, product workflow planning and material handling equipment selection and design

Qualifications:

* You must be a US citizen
* You must have a Secret level security clearance.
* Have a B.S. with 15+ years of prior relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
* Prior experience with leading and conducting missile trade studies, missile system development and design, missile systems requirements development and management, and missile system integration and test
* Experience leading and executing the design and development of complex system architectures
* Demonstrated experience across the product lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, and production
* Experience developing effective internal and external customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and continued business
* Experience managing resources with multi-million-dollar annual budgets
* Direct experience with Engineering Risks and Opportunities (R&O) Management
* Demonstrated mechanical component design experience employing industry best practices
* Experience with environmental testing, i.e., shock, vibration, temperature/altitude, environmental stress screening (ESS)
* Experience implementing and interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
* Are willing and able to travel to attend meetings or tests at other government and contractor sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Have a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
* Prior missile airframe design experience, with emphasis on balancing system level size, weight, and power
* Experience with flight vehicle physics and dynamics
* Proficiency in Technical Data Package (TDP) release processes and maintenance using Windchill
* Knowledge of manufacturing and manufacturing processes
* Design verification test planning and fixture design or field-testing experience

Salary Range: $135,000 - $225,000
