Job Summary

Major job duties include but are not limited to: * Investigates financial and cybercrimes assigned by a supervisor, ensuring all actions comply with federal, state, and County laws and professional investigative standards. * Prepares investigation reports to include the background, investigative activities, analyses, and conclusions thoroughly and concisely. * Coordinates with financial institutions, digital platforms, and third-party entities to obtain transaction data, user logs, and supporting documentation. * Analyzes records and data obtained from financial institutions, remote computing services, and internet service providers to identify investigative leads, establish suspect activity, and support case development. * Drafts affidavits and supporting documentation for subpoenas, search warrants, and court orders related to digital, financial, or testimonial evidence, ensuring accuracy, legal sufficiency, and alignment with investigative findings. * Investigates financial and cybercrime cases through evidence collection, victim, witness, and suspect interviews, and analysis of financial records and digital activity. * Prepares detailed investigative documentation including affidavits, reports, and court-ready materials; testifies in court and supports legal proceedings. * Knowledge of cryptocurrencies, including blockchain platforms such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. * Knowledge of blockchain processes, including the ability to analyze transaction flows, understand block creation, and investigate on-chain activity. * Knowledge of cryptosecurity and awareness of common crypto-fraud techniques. * Knowledge of the criminal investigation process and court proceedings. * Ability to organize complex information and document investigations in a clear, concise manner. * Ability to trace blockchain wallet activity and associate ownership through forensic tools. * Ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field; four (4) years' experience conducting financial or cybercrime investigations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Selection process includes review of the Applicant Screening Questionnaire and County employment application, in-person interview(s), and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, credit check, driving record, and polygraph examination.
