Compensation Range: $57,977/year to $72,471/year, based on experience.

Job Objective:

The Family Care Center Coordinator is the individual responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, overseeing the ministry and leadership of the youth, and establishing and sustaining a positive learning environment for the children at the Family Care Center (FCC). The FCC Coordinator oversees the coordination of all FCC education programs, ensures that facilities are maintained, supervises and schedules FCC staff, and collaborates with the Assistant Training Principal for Personnel for FCC financial affairs.

General Responsibilities:



  • Supervise the environment, staff, and ministry of the CFOT Family Care Center.
  • Follow all "Guidelines for working with Children and Youth" and guidelines from the Central Territory Employee Handbook/CFOT Addendum.
  • Oversee Safe From Harm compliance for staff and provide training when necessary.



Specific Responsibilities:

ENVIRONMENTAL SUPERVISION:



  • Ensure a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for children and teens.
  • Oversee the transportation plan for staff and children, including driving a 12-passenger or transit van or walking the children to and from school.
  • Oversee the FCC kitchen, including compliance with ServSafe guidelines, the use and processing of snack funds, snack menu planning, shopping, and snack and meal preparation.
  • Evaluate, prepare, manage and oversee the FCC budget and financials, including purchases and petty cash with approvals from the ATP for Personnel
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures; safety trainings; and be regularly informed of State of Illinois standards for Childcare Centers and Salvation Army Childcare best practices.


STAFF SUPERVISION



  • With support from the Business department, interview, hire, and train new staff members in organizational policies.
  • Manage, supervise, and support teaching staff and promote their professional development.
  • Maintain regular communication between teachers, parents, and ATP for Personnel regarding each child's progress, development, and/or any behavioral issues.
  • Conduct regular employee trainings, staff meetings, and evaluations.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the ATP for Personnel.


PROGRAM & MINISTRY SUPERVISION



  • Manage and coordinate curriculum with staff focusing on faith-based lessons.
  • Be prepared to lead classrooms or substitute for a classroom teacher(s) whenever necessary, including going on trips off campus as needed.
  • Provide monthly schedules for parents and children.
  • Create monthly FCC planning calendars, money requests, staff directives and review the daily lesson plans submitted by the classroom teachers.
  • Be the liaison between CFOT families and the local public schools, facilitating new family visits, registration, and ongoing communication.
  • As requested, act as the liaison for CFOT families at The Salvation Army Norridge Citadel.


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in education or a ministry related field of study.


Experience:



  • 5 years of experience in education and/or children's ministry.


OR: Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

Certifications:



  • First Aid - provided upon hire
  • CPR (adults and young children) - provided upon hire
  • Safe From Harm - provided upon hire


Skills:



  • Ability to speak, write, and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, department heads, and field personnel.
  • Knowledgeable about the latest trends and techniques in education and child-rearing, including disciplines, encouragement, and communication.
  • Must be flexible and able to react appropriately to changing circumstances.
  • Must have strong crisis management abilities and be able to maintain a cool composure in times of crisis.
  • Required use of technology for email, creating forms, spreadsheets, flyers, and bulletins.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor
  • Self-starter, diplomatic, respectful to all, motivates others
  • Maintain professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic at all times.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive a 12-passenger van.



Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervise and direct staff in FCC.

Manage staff performance reviews, class curriculum coaching, child development markers, and teacher direction and goal setting. Conduct regular classroom observations and teacher feedback consultation. Supervise cadet details for cleaning the facility and school transportation.

Physical requirements include:



  • Efficient speaking, hearing, and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity.
  • Must be willing to spend long hours standing, walking, kneeling, and lifting no more than 30 pounds
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Able to drive a 12-passenger or transit van


Travel:

Frequent local travel, including going on field trips off campus as required. Out-of-town travel at least 2 weekends per year.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a typical childcare environment. Full-time position.
