Job Purpose

To provide our various lines of business with quality, accurate, and timely land surveying services to support capital improvement as well as maintenance projects.
Conduct research and interpretation of internal & external property records to support the accurate location of company property boundaries and rights of way as well as the evaluation of 3rd party requests/impacts.
To provide expert guidance and direction on the location of existing as well as proposed company assets and facilities in relation to our property and right of way boundaries on the ground.

Key Accountabilities
  • Furnish and assist with land surveying activities required to support capital projects and maintenance as required by our electric, gas, substation, LNG, forestry as well as facilities departments.
  • Develop mapping applications and similar tools regarding geographical mapping.
  • Edit and update GIS with respect to real property assets as required, including data collection, spatial analysis, and map creation to support project planning and decision-making.
  • Provide assistance during the various phases of projects including concept, design, construction, and as-built. Provide required survey deliverables.
  • Help develop and maintain specifications required to ensure that deliverables adhere to company standards.
  • Facilitate preparation of exhibits or plans to be used in the acquisition or disposal of rights in a CAD environment, preferably AutoCAD.
  • Conduct field tasks, inspections, and measurements as needed.
  • Respond to external requests for information on company rights of way to help support accurate determination of our rights on the ground by 3rd parties.
  • Provide survey consulting for peers within the Right of Way, Engineering, Legal, Environmental and Design groups.
  • Review survey-related maps and engineering reports as required assuring quality and accuracy.
  • Determine customer needs; provide cost estimates, and schedules as required.
  • Procure and contract survey services and monitor deliverables.
  • Review accuracy of vendor invoices and facilitate payment as required.
  • Ensure timelines, financial and safety objectives of project(s)assigned are adhered to.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree (4 year) from accredited college preferably in Surveying/Mapping/Mathematics/Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience in the Land Surveying field preferred.
  • Current certification as an LSIT or ability to obtain within 2 years a plus.
  • Knowledge of aerial mapping procedures including Photogrammetric, Lidar, UAS (Drones).
  • Proficient in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with experience in land surveying and property rights.
  • Ability to interpret paper and electronic mapping systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and other assignments at the same time.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, and an ability and willingness to use personal vehicle on company business.
  • Travel within National Grid NE service territory.

Salary

$90,000- $106,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
