Base Compensation Range: $50,250 - $62,750
*In addition, you qualify for:

Job Summary

The Buyer I is an entry-level procurement position responsible for supporting the purchasing process within the organization. Assist in sourcing, ordering, and managing the inventory of materials, goods, and services required for production or operations. This role requires a basic understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, and supply chain fundamentals. Works closely with suppliers, internal departments, and senior buyers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials, while adhering to budget and procurement policies.

Duties/Responsibilities

Procurement Support:

* Assist in purchasing goods and services based on approved purchase requisitions, ensuring timely delivery to meet production or operational needs.

* Review purchase requisitions and confirm material or product specifications, quantities, and delivery requirements with relevant departments.

* Source and identify potential suppliers, request quotes, and evaluate supplier offers based on price, quality, and delivery terms.

Supplier Management:

* Maintain and update a list of approved suppliers and their contact details, ensuring the availability of suppliers who meet the organization's standards.

* Establish and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers to ensure the best possible pricing, terms, and service.

* Communicate with suppliers to confirm order details, resolve discrepancies, and follow up on delivery schedules.

* Assist in negotiating purchase orders, including prices, payment terms, and delivery timelines.

Order Processing & Inventory Management:

* Generate purchase orders (POs) and issue them to suppliers, ensuring that all required information is included and accurate.

* Monitor and track open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.

* Maintain inventory levels and coordinate with inventory management teams to ensure stock is available for production or operations.

* Assist in maintaining accurate records of purchased items, including quantities, pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.

Compliance & Documentation:

* Ensure all procurement activities are compliant with company policies, procurement guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

* Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, supplier contracts, invoices, and any correspondence.

* Support internal audits and ensure proper documentation is maintained for compliance purposes.

Problem Solving & Issue Resolution:

* Address any issues or discrepancies related to orders, shipments, and invoices in a timely manner.

* Collaborate with the Accounts Payable team to resolve billing and payment discrepancies.

* Investigate and resolve any quality or delivery issues with suppliers, escalating to senior buyers or management as necessary.

Reporting & Analysis:

* Assist in tracking procurement metrics such as order fulfillment, lead times, and supplier performance.

* Provide regular reports on purchasing activities, including order status, inventory levels, and supplier performance metrics.

* Help identify areas for cost savings and improvements in the procurement process.

Collaboration with Internal Teams:

* Work closely with other departments such as Manufacturing, Operations, and Engineering to understand material and service requirements and align purchasing activities accordingly.

* Communicate with internal teams to ensure that purchased goods meet specifications and delivery requirements.

Experience/Education

* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.

* 0 - 1 year of professional experience.

Knowledge and Skillsets Required

* Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

* Basic negotiation skills and an understanding of supplier management.

* Attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy in purchasing and inventory management.

* Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

* Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with suppliers and internal teams.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with procurement or ERP software is a plus.

* Basic analytical skills for tracking procurement metrics and identifying trends.

Physical Demands

* Sitting: Often for extended periods at desks or meetings.

* Standing or walking: Occasionally for meetings or office tasks.

* Using computers: Typing and using office equipment.

* Lifting: Light, less than 10 pounds.

* Repetitive motions: Frequent use of keyboard and mouse.

* Ventilation: Good ventilation to ensure a comfortable working environment, though this can vary depending on the building.
