Position Summary

The University of New Mexico (UNM) Real Estate Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Real Estate Associate. This role will support the university's real estate portfolio, with a primary focus on lease administration and management.

The Real Estate Department provides professional real estate services for all entities of the Regents of the University of New Mexico (UNM) including all academic, research, and administrative departments of Main Campus, the UNM Health Sciences Center, UNM Hospitals, UNM Medical Group, and UNM Branches in Taos, Gallup, Los Alamos, Rio Rancho, and Valencia County.

The Real Estate Associate's primary focus will be on lease administration, ensuing the accurate documentation, tracking and execution of over 230 leases consisting of 1.6 million square feet. This includes data entry and reporting from the Yardi database, maintenance of property files and records, preparation of leases and other real property legal documents.

We are seeking an individual with knowledge and experience in leasing, attention to detail, excellent proofreading skills and the ability to build positive relationships with university partners. Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent time management, and the ability to work independently are also highly desirable.

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must possess a current NM Real Estate Associate Broker or Qualifying Broker License OR must obtain such licensure within 12 months of date of hire.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Knowledge of real estate and leasing
  • Ability to draft, review, and edit agreements
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
  • Familiarity with database systems
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Problem solving and an understanding of prioritization
  • Ability to summarize data, draw conclusions and inferences, and prepare reports/presentations
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
