Job Summary
The position is responsible for providing expertise to implement, develop, and evaluate enrollment initiatives, develop recruitment strategies, and assist the department of Interdisciplinary Studies with strategic implementation of recruitment activities by identifying strong recruitment approaches and developing outreach programs.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in a related field, with five years of experience working with students and programs in higher education, or related community programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
Master's degree and experience in higher education recruitment; effective communication and leadership skills; ability to travel to partnering schools.

  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Ability to plan, assess, and evaluate programs.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Skill in the configuration and use of computerized database programs.


Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development of student recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and written materials.
  • Visits middle schools, high schools, and colleges, speaks to groups and individual students, and meets with school counselors to promote outreach activities.
  • Serves as a liaison to develop partnerships between the university and local school systems throughout the state.
  • Creates a database of prospective and current students and/or potential degree candidates in the state.
  • Distributes resource materials for student recruitment and retention programs; develops mentorship programs; analyzes trends in recruitment and retention programs; develops strategies for program evaluation.
  • Develops operating goals and objectives for the unit; implements and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate to the unit.
  • Coordinates recruitment initiatives with IS staff and faculty.
  • Evening availability may be required as well as travel for admission events.


Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
