Assistant Softball Coach - South Campus

Essential Job Functions:
Assistant Coach: Assist in the development of well-rounded student-athletes who compete at their highest level athletically and academically while instilling leadership qualities for life through:
  • Practice support - Assist with planning and running practices, lead drills and skill development (e.g., batting, fielding, base running), provide individual coaching and feedback to players, help maintain equipment and set up fields for practice.
  • Player Development - Mentor athletes on and off the field, offer positive reinforcement and constructive feedback, help identify areas for improvement and work on individualized training plans.
  • Administrative Duties - Assist with organizing team travel, accommodations, and logistics, help with team communications and schedule updates, coordinate uniforms and equipment inventory.
  • Recruiting - Help identify and evaluate potential recruits, attend high school games or tournaments, communicate with prospective players and their families.
  • Team Culture - Model professionalism, enthusiasm, and teamwork, foster a positive team environment, Support team bonding and leadership development.
  • Compliance - Ensure players follow team rules and code of conduct, promote a culture of sportsmanship and respect, support adherence to league, school, or association policies.
  • Field Maintenance - Prepare the field before and after practices and games, monitor field conditions and report any hazards or issues.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Head Coach
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Successful candidate will have working knowledge of mentoring young athletes
  • Applicant should also demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds, embracing diversity and inclusion
  • The successful candidate must be student-oriented, promote excellence, and embrace a commitment to professionalism
  • Will possess effective verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Should possess basic computer skills including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, and advanced statistical programs for assigned sport as well as the designated stat program for the NJCAA
  • Must pass the school approved driver requirements and the College's requirements for a procurement card
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or other sports related degree.
Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of Collegiate Coaching experience in Softball
Note: The duties of this position require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location during unrestricted operations with very limited or no opportunity for remote work arrangements.

Salary Grade: 110

Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
